We are delighted to welcome four great new members to the CEF Management team who were elected at last night’s AGM. They include Clair McSweeney from Blackrock Castle Observatory, Dominick Donnelly, Teacher and Environmental Activist, Joanne McNamara, Farranree Health Zone Project and Denis O’Regan, current spokesperson for Save the Marina Park.
Sadly, it was the final AGM address by outgoing Chairperson, Micahel Hobbs, in keping with our rotation system of a maximum of six years on the Management and three years as Chairperson. I’m sure the new members were somewhat taken by Michael’s inspiring and motivational speech in which he captured the essence of the work CEF does and the challenge of tackling the current envrionmental problems, which as the preceding film “Surving Progress” reflected affects us locally and globally. The full text of Michael’s speech will feature in our 2012 Annual Report, however, a short exercpt on his personal experience of being enagged with CEF, he will undoubtably continue to be a member and great supporter of the organisation.
“It is impossible to encapsulate in a few short paragraphs all that I have gained from being part of the CEF, but I am going to try. I know I’m not the same person now as when I joined, I’m better. I’ve done things, learnt things, seen places, been places, met people and accomplished things that I thought I was not capable of doing. It has pushed me right out of my cosy comfort zone and I’m much the better for it.”
Can’t wait for the TEDxUCC speech on 13th October!
