Deirdre Hosford Galvin, support s Mix Your Mode’s campaign as she gets on her bike with the shopping at Bandon’s Riverview shopping centre. Mix Your Mode enters its final campaign week from the 18th – 24th March with a focus on shopping and leisure and encourages everyone to adopt more sustainable ways of doing these everyday activities.
Deirdre from her Operation Transformation experience agrees that changing behaviour is all about a change in your attitude and mind set and the experience of the programme she feels has really helped her to bring a focus to becoming more active. Sustainable travel is generally more active travel and the benefits extend to our health, our pockets, our quality of life and the environment.
Mix Your Mode Shopping/ Leisure week encourages retailers to participate in a shop front display competition, shops supporting the initiative will have shopping bags to give out and may even put in place some special offers. As always the week kicks off with the Information Stand and Bike Repair Workshop from the kiosk near Electric on the South Mall on Monday 18th from 1pm -3pm. Bring that puncture to be repaired or those brakes mended! Competitions and giveaways continue with our associate partners RED FM, tune in to find out more.
Each one of us can choose to make a change to the way we travel, which can mean using a combination of modes of transport. Have you Mixed Your Mode?- do let us know.
