The GAP Greener Living programme is aimed at a household level, it supports, encourages and assists people to make changes, firstly by becoming aware of their use of resources, the amount of waste generated, how they travel and shop and the associated costs e.g. people get to try out energy metres during the course and lots of other interactive experiences such as aerated shower heads, using tap inserts etc.
Cobh Tidy Towns and Cork County Council are supporting the delivery of the course at the Cobh Community Centre.
The course is run in six 90 minute sessions and covers topics such as Energy: 50% of the energy we use is wasted. Find out how you can dramatically decrease your energy bill. Waste: Learn how to turn your organic waste into priceless nutrition for your garden and save on your waste disposal. Water: Only 0.02% of the earth’s water is drinkable. Get some useful tips on conserving water every day in your home and workplace. Buy better: Together we will look at ways in which you as a consumer you can make a difference to the lives of producers, the environment and last but not least your pocket. Transport: Get useful tips on decreasing your energy consumption and explore alternative modes of transport. Community: Organise an action or event within your own community that can make a difference.
