The Environmental Research Institute, UCC is pleased to announce that it will host a webcasting of the Environmental Protection Agency Climate Lecture Series this Autumn. The webcasting will be twinned with an introductory lecture by a UCC expert who will provide an Irish perspective on the lecture theme. The EPA Climate Lecture Series continues the popular series of climate change lectures which aims to provide scientific insights on climate change and to outline options to respond to this challenge.
On Monday 6th October, 2014, Professor Ottmar Edenhofer, Co-Chair, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group III, will present a lecture on solutions to the challenges of climate change. Professor Edenhofer is Co- Chair IPCC Working Group III, Mitigation of Climate Change and is Deputy Director and Chief Economist at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK).
Before the webcast Dr Brian Ó Gallachoir, UCC will present a lecture on “How can Ireland move to a low carbon future?” Dr Ó Gallachóir is Principal Investigator of the Energy Policy and Modelling Group at the ERI and is Director of the MEngSc in Sustainable Energy in the School of Engineering, UCC.
